Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about renting RV, trailer, and vehicle storage at Eagle Canopy.

01  About Eagle Canopy RV Storage

  • Where is Eagle Canopy RV Storage located?

Eagle Canopy RV Storage is at 645 Lindbergh Drive, Gypsum, CO, just minutes from Eagle County Regional Airport and easy access from I-70. Our location in the Vail Valley makes us a convenient choice for RV owners, trailer storage, and vehicle storage across Vail, Beaver Creek, Eagle, and Glenwood Springs.

  • What kind of storage do you offer?

Eagle Canopy specializes in covered storage under two canopies, ideal for RVs, travel trailers, boats, motorcoaches, classic cars, and oversized vehicles. The canopies protect your vehicle from sun, snow, and weather while keeping costs lower than fully enclosed indoor storage. We also offer outdoor uncovered spaces for tenants with shorter-term or simpler needs.

  • What are your access hours?

Our gated facility is accessible to tenants 7 days a week, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Each tenant receives a personal gate code at move-in. If you ever need access outside those hours, contact us in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate.

  • Is the facility gated and monitored?

Yes. The property is fully fenced with electronic gate access (a unique code per tenant) and 24/7 video surveillance. Our team is reachable by phone at (970) 212-0912 and our local site manager keeps eyes on the property for anything that needs attention.

02  Choosing the Right Storage Space

  • How do I choose the right space size for my RV or trailer?

We size our spaces by length to match the most common RVs and trailers. For Class B vans, small travel trailers, ATVs, and motorcycles, our smaller spaces (10 to 25 feet) work well. For Class C motorhomes, mid-size trailers, and boats up to 25 feet, our mid-size spaces (25 to 35 feet) are the right fit. For Class A motorhomes, large fifth wheels, and toy haulers up to 45 feet, our largest spaces accommodate the full length plus a buffer for easy parking. Measure your vehicle bumper to bumper including any accessories like bike racks or hitches, and add a couple feet for clearance.

  • Can you store my boat or trailer?

Yes. Eagle Canopy is set up for boats, utility trailers, cargo trailers, equipment trailers, and travel trailers of all sizes. Both covered and uncovered options are available depending on your vehicle and storage preferences. Call us at (970) 212-0912 to confirm space availability and the right fit for your trailer.

  • What's the difference between covered and uncovered storage?

Covered storage means your vehicle parks under one of our two canopies, which protects it from direct sun, snow accumulation, and most weather. This is the right choice for RVs, classic cars, motorcoaches, and any vehicle where paint, seals, and finishes matter most. Uncovered storage is open-air parking inside the gated facility, ideal for trailers and vehicles that handle weather well or for short-term storage. Both options are secured by the same gate access and 24/7 video monitoring.

  • What space sizes are available at Eagle Canopy?

We offer a range of space lengths to fit most vehicles, from compact spaces for small trailers and ATVs up to large spaces for full-size Class A motorhomes and oversized rigs. Both covered (under canopy) and uncovered (open-air) options are available, with sizes varying by availability. For current options and to reserve a space, call (970) 212-0912 or check available spaces on our website.

03  Renting and Move-In

  • How do I rent a space at Eagle Canopy?

You can rent a space online directly through our website, by phone at (970) 212-0912, or by stopping by during business hours. Most tenants complete the rental online in about 10 minutes. The process includes picking a space size and type (covered or uncovered), signing the lease electronically, paying the first month, and receiving your gate code by email.

  • What do I need to provide to rent a space?

To rent a space, we ask for a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID), a working email address and phone number, and a payment method (credit or debit card). For RVs and registered vehicles, we may also ask for proof of registration and current insurance on the vehicle. All paperwork is completed digitally, so you can sign your lease from anywhere.

  • How soon can I move in after signing?

As soon as the lease is signed and the first payment is processed, your gate code is active. Most tenants move in the same day they rent. If you need to bring in your RV, boat, or trailer at a specific date or time, let us know in advance and we'll make sure everything is ready for you.

  • Can I reserve a space before I move in?

Yes. You can reserve a space online or by phone for a future move-in date. Reservations help us hold your preferred size and storage type (covered or uncovered) so it doesn't get rented to someone else while you're getting ready. Reach out at (970) 212-0912 to confirm the hold period and lock in your space.

04  Payments and Pricing

  • What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) and ACH bank transfers. All payments are processed online through your tenant portal, where you can also set up autopay so your rent is paid automatically each month without you needing to think about it.

  • Do you accept cash?

All payments are processed online through your secure tenant portal. This keeps your account up to date in real time and gives you a clear record of every payment for your files. If you have a specific situation that requires another payment method, give us a call at (970) 212-0912 and we'll see what we can do.

  • Do you ever lock in my rate?

We don't offer a portfolio-wide rate lock. Rates adjust over time based on local market conditions, competitor pricing, and operating costs at the facility. That said, Eagle Canopy is locally operated, and we do our best to keep our rates as fair as we can for our long-term tenants. If you ever have a question about your rate, give us a call and we'll talk it through.

  • What happens if my payment is late?

If your payment is late, a late fee may be added to your account after a short grace period, and your gate code may be temporarily suspended until the balance is paid. We always try to reach out before any fees apply, so the best thing you can do is make sure your email and phone number in our system are current. Setting up autopay through your tenant portal is the easiest way to avoid late fees entirely.

05  Insurance and Policies

  • Do I need insurance on my stored RV or vehicle?

Yes, insurance is required on all stored vehicles. For RVs, trailers, and boats, your existing RV, auto, or boat insurance policy typically covers theft, fire, and damage while in storage, so check with your insurance provider to confirm coverage. We partner with SafeLease for tenants who need an affordable supplemental policy through their lease. If you already have full coverage through your own policy, just provide proof and we can waive the SafeLease requirement.

  • Can I live or sleep in my RV while it's in storage?

No. Even though many of our tenants store RVs, the facility is not designed or zoned for residential use, and using a space that way is against both our lease and local code. Eagle Canopy is here for safely storing your RV, trailer, or vehicle between trips, not for living in. If you need overnight RV parking or camping in the area, the Vail Valley has several RV-friendly campgrounds we can point you to.

  • Can I store items inside my RV or trailer?

Yes. Most tenants leave belongings inside their RV or trailer while it's in storage, like camping gear, outdoor equipment, and personal items. Just make sure perishable food is removed, propane tanks are turned off or fully removed for long-term storage, and that nothing inside the vehicle creates a fire or pest risk. If you have questions about what's safe to leave inside, give us a call at (970) 212-0912.

  • Are there any restrictions on what I can store?

For safety and legal reasons, you can't store loose hazardous materials (gasoline cans, propane tanks beyond what's installed in your RV, fireworks, chemicals), perishable food, live animals or plants, stolen or illegal items, firearms or ammunition stored outside of a secured RV safe, or anything that gives off strong odors or attracts pests. If you're not sure whether something is okay, ask us before you bring it in. Our team is happy to help you figure out a safe alternative.

06  Operations and Troubleshooting

  • What if I forget my gate code?

No problem. If you forget your gate code, call us at (970) 212-0912 during business hours and we can verify your identity and resend the code by email or text. For your security, we don't share codes by phone unless we can confirm you're the tenant on the lease.

  • How does winter weather affect access?

The Vail Valley gets real winter weather, and we keep the property accessible year-round. Our team plows the main drive lanes after significant snowfall, but the area around your space is your responsibility to clear if you need to move your RV or vehicle in or out. We recommend giving your space a clear path in the fall before snow accumulates if you plan to access your vehicle regularly. If a storm makes the property temporarily unsafe, we'll send a notice to all tenants by email.

  • Can a service technician visit to work on my RV?

Yes. RV technicians, detailers, and mobile mechanics often visit Eagle Canopy to service tenants' vehicles. Just give us a call at (970) 212-0912 in advance to coordinate their visit. We can either issue them a temporary gate code or you can meet them on-site. Routine maintenance, detailing, and minor repairs are fine, but extensive on-site work or major repairs are not allowed. If you're not sure whether your service falls within the allowed scope, ask us beforehand.

  • Who do I call for an after-hours emergency?

For after-hours emergencies that affect the property (fire, flooding, attempted break-in), call (970) 212-0912 and leave a detailed message. Our team monitors urgent messages and will respond as quickly as possible. For any life-threatening emergency or a crime in progress, call 911 first, then notify us. Our local site manager is also available to respond on the ground when needed.

07  Moving Out

  • How much notice do I need to give before moving out?

We ask for at least 10 days written notice before your planned move-out date. You can submit your notice by email, through your tenant portal, or by calling us at (970) 212-0912. Giving us notice helps us turn the space around for the next tenant and confirms your move-out date in our system so you're not billed for the next cycle.

  • What condition should I leave my space in?

When you move out, please leave the space empty and free of any trash, debris, or personal items. Take all of your gear, tarps, blocks, chocks, and accessories with you. If you had a lock on the space, remove it so we can confirm the space is vacant. Leaving items behind may result in a cleaning or disposal fee.

  • Do I get a refund if I move out before the end of the month?

We don't pro-rate rent for partial months. Once a billing cycle starts, the rent for that cycle is non-refundable, so the best way to avoid paying for time you won't use is to give us your move-out notice before your next billing date. If you're not sure when your next bill is due, give us a call at (970) 212-0912 and we'll walk you through the timing.

  • Can I transfer to a different size or type of space?

Yes, transfers are easy. If you find yourself needing more or less space, or want to switch between covered and uncovered storage, give us a call at (970) 212-0912 or send us a message and we'll check availability. If we have what you need, we'll help you coordinate the move and update your lease. There's no penalty for switching, just a new lease for the new space.
